Men's Hoops: Cats pick up pieces after pair of losses
Despite losing three of its last four games, the UA men's basketball team has not pressed the panic button.
Arizona returns home this week after a tough road stretch through Washington and northern California that dropped the Wildcats to fourth in the Pacific 10 Conference. Though they're all but eliminated from conference title contention, the Wildcats (14-6, 6-5 Pac-10) say they're still motivated.

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Polkey puts Cats atop Pac-10
NAME: Shawntinice "Polkey" Polk
Year: sophomore
From: Hanford, Calif.
2003-04 Stats: 16.0 ppg, 9.8 rpg, 2.6 bpg
Last week, Shawntinice Polk scored 21 points and pulled down 19 rebounds in an 88-83 win over then-No. 7 Stanford. She followed it up with 15 points, 14 boards, eight assists and eight blocks in a victory over California, 77-59.
The 6-foot-5 sophomore center was named Pac-10 Player of the Week for the second time this season and the sixth time in her UA career. This is Polkey's second athlete of the week honor.

Pac-10 names Bisordi week's best
Arizona junior Monica Bisordi was named Pacific 10 Conference Gymnast of the Week for Feb. 2-8, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced yesterday.
Bisordi, from San Mateo, Calif., led No. 15 Arizona to a Pac-10 victory over California on Friday, Bisordi swept the individual titles, finishing first in each event.
Bisordi took top honors in the all-around, tying her career-high score of 39.750, finished first on floor with a career-high 9.975 and tied for first place on beam (9.900) and on vault with a career-high 9.950.

Club Sports Notes: Women's rugby tries to rebound from slow start
The UA women's rugby team hopes to improve upon its early season performances.
Eight freshmen made the trek on a two-game, two-day road swing in Southern California that saw UA drop both games.
The Wildcats lost to UCSB 10-0 Saturday. The team played with a lot of intensity but was overwhelmed by its inexperience and a number of penalties, team co-captain Danielle Bus said.
Sunday's game saw UA fall to Claremont 8-5 in another hard-fought encounter. Rookie Vanessa Buendia scored in just her third outing with the squad.
