Men's Hoops: UA still eyeing Pac-10 title
Devils, Cats battle to finish regular season
The No. 11 Arizona men's basketball team has one more chance to put itself in line for the Pacific 10 Conference title and solidify its postseason status.
The Wildcats (24-5, 14-3 Pac-10) travel to Tempe to take on ASU (18-11, 7-10) at 4 p.m. tomorrow.
With a win, Arizona forces Washington to sweep California and Stanford tomorrow to get a share of the regular season Pac-10 title.

Men's Hoops: All bets off for UA-ASU tilt
When it comes to the Arizona-ASU men's basketball rivalry, throw all the numbers out the window.
After all, No. 11 Arizona has won 19 of the series' last 20 games. ASU hasn't come within eight points in their last seven losses to the Wildcats, losing by an average margin of 16.4 points per game.
But what the Sun Devils do have is probable All-American and national player of the year candidate Ike Diogu.

Women's Hoops: UA battles for NCAA nod in San Jose
It is do or die for the Arizona women's basketball team.
The Wildcats (19-10, 11-7 Pacific 10 Conference) face off tomorrow against Southern California at 8:15 p.m. in HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif., in the first round of the Pacific-10 Women's Basketball Tournament.
"I think we've been given a second chance here, and so our game and our season is a one-game season," said Arizona head coach Joan Bonvicini.

Baseball, Texas to lock horns at Sancet
Top-ranked Longhorns, No. 10 UA to play three
While Texas brings a No. 1 national ranking, an undefeated record and national runner-up status to Sancet Stadium this weekend, its presence also marks a reunion for Arizona junior left fielder Trevor Crowe.
Three of Crowe's teammates from this summer's Team USA gold medal team at the World University Baseball Championship head to Tucson for a three-game series with the No. 10 Wildcats.

Jung visits UA softball to try to spark bats
Former All-American on hand for series with Eastern Michigan
A familiar face showed up to take some swings at Hillenbrand Stadium this week, a welcome sight for the hitting-challenged No. 1 Arizona softball team.
Former Wildcat shortstop and Olympic gold medalist Lovieanne Jung, who hit .468 and hit a team-record-tying 21 doubles in 2003, took batting and fielding practice and ran through the bleachers Tuesday.

Men's swim drops to 4th at Pac-10s
The Arizona men's swim team fell to fourth place yesterday in day two of the Pacific 10 Conference Championships in Long Beach, Calif.
Stanford remained in first place as the Wildcats recorded seven NCAA consideration qualifying times.
No Arizona athlete finished better than fifth place during the second day of competitions. Junior Tyler DeBerry placed fifth in the 500-yard freestyle while posting the Wildcats first qualifying time of the day.

Gymcats head to Columbus to take on Ohio St.
The No. 21 Arizona women's gymnastics team travels to Columbus, Ohio, to take on Ohio State tomorrow at 5:00 p.m.
"I'm really excited. The team is looking good. I've really been looking forward to this meet," said freshman Danielle Hicks. "My family is coming down. It's great to perform in front of people you know."
The Gymcats (193.625) fell to No. 4 UCLA (196.100) and No. 8 Georgia (196.500) in a three-team meet Sunday in Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles.

Women's Tennis: Wildcats set to take on defending national champs
Coach Ramirez, "These girls are beatable"
The No. 48 Arizona women's tennis team has a tough task ahead of them this weekend.
The Wildcats (5-3, 0-1) face No. 1 Stanford (9-0, 4-0) today at 1 p.m., and meet No. 15 California tomorrow at noon. Both matches will be at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center.
"They're a great team, but they are beatable," said Arizona assistant coach Brian Ramirez of the top-ranked Cardinal.

Track home to open outdoors
As the 2005 indoor track season draws to a close with next weekend's indoor championships in Fayetteville, Ark., the Arizona track teams look forward to the beginning of the outdoor season.
Meanwhile, competition continues at home this weekend with the Wildcat Classic at 11 a.m. Saturday at Roy P. Drachman Stadium.
"(It will) give people a chance to stay at home, and stay up on their studies, without traveling," said Arizona head coach Fred Harvey about the advantages to the Wildcats hosting their first home meet of the year.

Laxcats hope for rebound in conference opener
After giving up 12 goals to No. 6 Michigan Wednesday night, the Arizona men's club lacrosse team hosts UCLA Sunday at Murphy Stadium at 1 p.m.
"It was a learning experience, but we're going to try to regroup as a family," said junior defender Carson Parmelee of the Laxcats mid-week loss.
Parmelee was referring to the team motto of "family" which the squad has selected this season. On a daily basis, many of the players wear shirts to practice with the word printed on the back.
