Hoops: Salim cops Pac-10 honor again
Wheeler named sole Pac-10 finalist for national award
Salim Stoudamire's only field goal of the second half won the game against ASU, and it likely also won him his third Pacific 10 Conference Player of the Week Award of the season.
It is the second time in three weeks Stoudamire received the honor. His jump shot with six-tenths of a second left on the clock won the game 70-68 over the Sun Devils.

Commentary: Spurs retire number of a truly nice guy
Who says nice guys finish last?
Certainly not the San Antonio Spurs, who honored former Arizona basketball great and one of professional sports' true role models Sean Elliott in a number- retirement ceremony Sunday night.
Elliott became just the fifth player in Spurs history to receive the honor, which also marked the first time a Wildcats' professional number was retired.
More than 18,000 fans remained in SBC Center following the Spurs' win over the Utah Jazz for the post-game retirement of Elliott's No. 32, and for good reason.

Superstitious senior hurdler one of a kind
Shaving, bathing, socks and pizza
Baseball players have nothing on this guy. The superstitions of Arizona track and field junior Jeff Hunter range so far, he takes nearly the entire week before a meet to prepare.
"He does some pretty interesting things," said Arizona head coach Fred Harvey. "He has to have a certain mystique and feel about himself going into a competition."
But it couldn't possibly take him the entire week - or could it?

For hoops manager, work is its own reward

While Channing Frye is doing interviews, senior manager Joe Williams is trying to break Frye's concentration. Frye tries not to look, but as soon as he makes eye contact with Williams, Frye is grinning from ear to ear. Williams and Frye are good friends, but more importantly, Williams is part of the Arizona men's basketball team.
He's been there since Frye and senior guard Salim Stoudamire were freshmen, this being his fourth year as a basketball team manager and his fifth year at the UA, with a communications degree already in hand.

No. 2 men's club volleyball heads to San Diego tourney
The Arizona men's club volleyball team got a chance to relax this weekend, playing its last home games of the season.
The No. 2 Wildcats hosted a three-day tournament at the Student Recreation Center that featured men's volleyball teams from all over Arizona.
"This tournament was just to get us more playing time against teams that we never play against," said senior outside hitter Britt Burridge.

No. 29 men's tennis holds court against No. 73 Memphis today
The No. 29 Arizona men's tennis team is glad to finally be back home.
After being on the road for almost a month, the Wildcats (6-4) are back to face the No. 73 Memphis Tigers (5-7, 1-2 Conference USA) today at 1:30 p.m. at Robson Tennis Center.
"The guys are ready to make a statement," said assistant coach Tad Berkowitz. "After a long road trip, it'll be nice to play at home."
During their long road trip, the Wildcats had a few setbacks, including inclement weather.
