The Arizona women's golf team travels to Tempe this weekend for the PING/ASU Invitational.

Play begins tomorrow at 8 a.m. on the 6,230-yard course and continues through Sunday.

Arizona is among 18 competitors, including Pac-10 rivals ASU, California, Oregon, Oregon State, Stanford, UCLA, Southern California and Washington.

The Wildcats took third place at the UNLV Invitational in Las Vegas Feb. 14.

"Our goal is to always put ourselves in a position where we have a chance to win going into the final round," head coach Greg Allen said in a press release on www.arizonaathletics.com.

Junior Cassandra Kirkland won her first collegiate title with a 4-under 220. She defeated Pepperdine's Eileen Vargas to take the individual crown.

"Cassandra has been close over the past three years to winning a college tournament, so it was nice to see her finally be able to accomplish her goal," Allen said in the release.

Kirkland leads the team with three top-10 finishes in eight events this season.

Second- and third-round pairings will be determined by team and individual total scores.

Live scoring for the event will be available on www.golfstat.com.
