photo Wildcat consistency will be tested by UCLA

If there was one word mentioned by players and coaches on the No. 2 Arizona softball team, it's consistency.

Mostly, the word is thrown around because consistency has been hard to come by for the Wildcats in Pacific 10 Conference play, especially offensively. Their spotty hitting has hurt them in some close conference games, where they have an 8-6 record.

Remember Sacramento!

That will be the No. 9 Arizona baseball team's battle cry two weeks after getting swept in three non-conference games in Sacramento when they play Utah Valley State this weekend at Sancet Stadium hoping to avoid a similar fate.

The Wildcats (29-15, 12-3 Pacific 10 Conference) host a struggling Wolverine squad Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at noon after losing twice to UC Irvine and once at Sacramento State April 22-23 in Sacramento, Calif. [Read article]

Baseball, basketball and football are the three most popular sports among American spectators, both on television and in live attendance, according to the Nielsen television rating system. [Read article]

Jake Arnold, the sophomore decathlete from Santa Rosa, Calif., has been on a roll of late, posting a personal record three weeks ago at the Mt. SAC Relays with 7259 points. [Read article]

Nationals in Minnesota next stop for No. 12 Laxcats

After patiently waiting more than a week, the Arizona men's club lacrosse team, (8-5, 2-1 Western Collegiate Lacrosse League) learned Monday evening that it will travel to Minnesota to play No. 5 Sonoma State (17-2, 3-0) in the first round of the United States Lacrosse Intercollegiate Association nationals, Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.

The Laxcats, who have taken several days off from practice since suffering their 9-7 loss to ASU April 16, are ready and prepared for their competition in Blaine, Minn. [Read article]
