photo Arizona Alumnus editor to retire

He has made it his mission to remind UA alumni that they can never stray too far from "home."

For more than two decades, Jay Rochlin has been the steady voice behind the UA Alumni Association, where he serves as vice president for communications and editor of Arizona Alumnus magazine.

He will be retiring from his position on June 30, leaving behind a list of accomplishments in the university community. [Read article]

PTS provides community alternative 4th of July viewing

The public will have an opportunity to see the "A" Mountain fireworks display from a closer perspective come July 4.

UA's Parking and Transportation Services will allow pedestrians to sit or stand on the top levels of the Tyndall, Main Gate and Sixth Street Garages in order to get a better view of the fireworks the city of Tucson will be displaying from "A" Mountain, said Mike Belahanty, operations manager for PTS. photo Undergrads mentor middle school students

Anthropology students with the Bureau of Applied Research in Anthropology have spent the last month deeply involved within the Tucson community conducting the Doolen refugee outreach program.

After spending the last year conducting research on refugees, students developed this program in conjunction with Tucson Unified School District.

TUSD selected students from a summer English-as-a-second-language intensive for the program. This program is offered as a free service. [Read article]

Charges dropped against suspect in McKale burglary

Charges were recently dropped against a woman thought to be connected with the theft of computers, sporting equipment and autographed UA memorabilia from the McKale Center last fall.

Charges are still being brought against the woman's two sons, one a former McKale Center employee, and her husband, former associate director of Parking and Transportation Services, for involvement in the burglary. [Read article]
