No fake ID required: Fun for the under-21

Tucson has no shortage of nightclubs, sports bars and other establishments that allow good, clean, alcohol-induced fun ... if you are, of course, old enough to partake. For those of you still counting the days until you turn 21, here is a list of alternative hang-out spots where you can do things to rot your minds and bodies in the meantime.

Applebee's

5870 E. Broadway Blvd.

750-9780

4625 E. Grant Rd.

319-0544

565 E. Wetmore Rd.

292-2600

Honestly, there's nothing really exciting about kickin' it at Applebee's, but it's usually crowded after 10 p.m., when all appetizers are half price.

Be a party crasher

In a college town like Tucson, it's easy to find a swinging party almost any night of the week; on weekends, it's almost impossible to avoid them.

Ask around. You never know who's throwing a party or when, but most hosts welcome crashers because, as always, the more, the merrier.

Bunny Ranch

3650 E. Speedway Blvd.

326-9282

Never been to a strip club? Neither had many of the UA students who now frequent this place; some even work there. Be sure to have an ID and be at least 18 years old.

Coconuts

296 N. Stone Ave.

884-0600

It's usually for older folks, but students under 21 can come shake their booties on Thursday nights at this hotspot.

Concerts

Most concerts are all-ages, so for a list of some of the fall's biggest concerts, check out the Wildcat's concert guide on page 22.

Fascinations

3658 E. Speedway Blvd.

322-0757

Conveniently located next door to the Bunny Ranch, this adult shop offers a lot more than dirty magazines. Sex toys, lube, clothing, sex-help books and much more are all available to UA students as long as they're 18 or older.

Main Street Billiards

8640 E. Broadway Blvd.

546-3464

If you want to get away from the Games Room in Wilbur's Underground, this is one of several billiards spots to shoot with the big dogs. Though 16-year-olds can play until 10 p.m., those 18 or older can play until midnight.

Rocks and Ropes

330 S. Toole Ave.

882-5924

While you're still young enough to actually have expendable energy, be sure to use it all up at this indoor climbing gym, which is open to all ages.

Smiley's Hookah

503 E. Ninth St.

882-4853

If you haven't started smoking cigarettes yet, good for you. But if you like the sweet-smelling, less abrasive flavor of shisha, this is the most popular joint in town at which to smoke up. If you're 18 of course. Bring your ID, fool.
