Edwards visits Tucson
Vice presidential candidate John Edwards rallied thousands in Tucson yesterday, urging young people and other voting blocs to help turn out the votes needed to guarantee Democrats a victory this November.
Edwards said the policies of the Bush administration - from education to foreign policy - have shown how "out of touch" it is with the American people.
"When John Kerry is your president, he's not going to wake up every day working for Haliburton," Edwards said. "He's going to wake up every day working for the American people."

Fraternity honors life of deceased UA student
The members of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity will hold a memorial service at their fraternity house tomorrow to honor the life of Brian David Garczewski, an economics junior who died of heart failure over the summer.
Garczewski, who was described by friends as someone who loved life and wanted everyone to have fun, died the morning of May 12 after spending over two weeks in the hospital and enduring open-heart surgery.

Ex-student defends RNC involvement
A former UA student arrested in New York while protesting the Republican National Convention publicly defended his innocence during a press conference yesterday at Himmel Park.
Yusuke "Josh" Banno was arrested on charges of assaulting a police officer after a 20-foot-long papier-mâché dragon was set on fire during a protest of the Republican National Convention last month in New York City.
"The story the DA was saying (at Banno's arraignment) was complete fiction," said Walt Staton, fellow protester and former Wildcat reporter.

Sam Hughes Place nearing completion
A three-story condominium and retail building at East Sixth Street and North Campbell Avenue is expected to be completed this semester, developers said.
Sam Hughes Place at the Corner should be ready by Nov. 1, said Jim Horvath, developer and general contractor for Town West Realty.
Neil Petagno, director of marketing for Town West, said the new development will be Tucson's first "mixed-use program" with retail on the bottom floor and housing condominiums on the second and third floors.

Jewish New Year begins tomorrow night
Hillel offers campus services, dinners for UA students to celebrate Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur
The Hillel Foundation will offer services for Jewish students who are unable to travel home for the Jewish New Year, which begins tomorrow.
Rosh Hashana begins at sundown tomorrow and the Hillel Foundation will host both Conservative and Reform services on campus.
"We expect over 500 students to be attending one service or another during the course of the holidays," said Melissa Blumenberg, executive director of the Hillel Foundation.
