A student saw two men kicking the decorative anchor on the front lawn of the Delta Gamma sorority, 1448 E. First St., early Wednesday morning, reports stated.

When police arrived around 1 a.m., the student said she had seen two young men kicking and pulling on the anchor. The student said this was the second time she saw the two men messing with the anchor.

The student said the two men had run into the Kappa Sigma fraternity, 1423 E. First St., reports stated.

The student said she could not identify the two men but asked police if they would talk to the president of Kappa Sigma.

Police told the president of Kappa Sigma to inform the fraternity members of the incident. Police said to remind the members about criminal trespassing and criminal damage laws.

The fraternity president said he would talk to the fraternity members, reports stated.

A UA employee backed into a parked car belonging to another UA employee Wednesday morning at 1435 N. Warren, reports stated.

When police arrived the employee whose car had been hit said she had seen the other employee back into her car and then drive away.

Police noticed a four-inch dent on the hood of the employee's car. The cost of the damage was estimated at $150.

Police then found the employee who had backed into the car. The employee said that he had not heard the collision or felt it.

Police cited the employee and he was released, reports stated.

Someone tried to break into a vending machine at the Sixth Street Garage, 1201 E. Sixth St., sometime between August 10 and Wednesday, but was not able to steal anything, reports stated.

When police arrived, an employee from Tomdra Vending Services said he last saw the vending machine at 10 a.m. August 10. The employee said he found the damaged machine around 10 a.m. Wednesday.

The coin acceptor on the machine was so badly damaged that the employee could not open it.

It looked like someone had used a large rock to break the coin acceptor, reports stated.

There was nothing missing from the vending machine.

Police have no suspects or witnesses, reports stated.

Two students were warned about using drugs Wednesday night after an employee from Coronado Residence Hall, 822 E. Fifth St. smelled burning marijuana on the students.

When police arrived the employee said he smelled the marijuana around 7 p.m. when two students entered their dorm room on the fifth floor.

Police found the room that the two students were in and told the students to bring out what they had been smoking.

One of the students said, "We don't have any bud," reports stated.

Police smelled a mild odor of marijuana coming from the students. Police also noticed the students had red eyes and appeared nervous.

One of the students admitted to buying the marijuana from California. The student said they had smoked the marijuana outside about 20 minutes ago.

The students were warned about smoking marijuana on campus.

No additional action was taken, reports stated.

A man was booked into Pima County Jail for drinking in public Tuesday morning after police saw him drinking a 24-ounce can of beer in an alley near East Sixth Street and North Cherry Avenue, reports stated.

Police ran a records check on the man and saw he had a warrant out for his arrest from a previous citation for drinking in public.

Police drove the man to the jail, reports stated.

A man was cited for possession of drugs and paraphernalia Tuesday night outside of Fairwheel bikes, 1110 E. Sixth St., reports stated.

When police stopped to talk to the man they noticed a rolled cigarette behind his ear.

Police asked the man why he was at the store it if was closed and the man said he was "scrounging for bike parts," reports stated.

Police asked the man if he had any drugs on him and he said no. Police then asked the man if they could search his backpack and he said, "Well you can look, but you can't search my bag," reports stated.

The man held the bag open for the police to look into. Police smelled marijuana, reports stated.

The man then admitted that the rolled cigarette was marijuana. Police also found three hypodermic needles in the man's bag.

The man was cited and released, reports stated.
