A Tribute to Sex, Plush-style

By Laura Wilson

If you have been dying to get out and break in your new latex pants or sequined bustier, Plush has just the occasion: Sex Night IV. As if Plush doesn't usually ooze sex, with its dim lights, fuzzy walls and cozy seating, the bar will transform itself into a haven for all manners of debauchery. Sex Night began four years ago in 2001 as "a celebration of the repeal of archaic sex laws," said Plush manager Jim Teeken.

With the repeal of these "archaic" laws, Arizona citizens were given the green light to cohabitate, engage in sodomy, and have sex without the ultimate goal of procreation. Although the laws were hard to enforce, those convicted faced up to 30 days in jail and a $500 fine (and you thought your roommate asking you to at least wait until she was out of the room was a tough break).

The evening of sin will be hosted by Ozlo. This former University of Arizona student is usually a solo artist, but will be playing with an accompanying band, which has been dubbed The Sexhounds, for the naughty night.

"We just play a bunch of songs about sex. We're going to cover everything from Missy Elliot, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Kool and the Gang, Def Leppard, and we'll play some original songs too," Ozlo said. There will also be special guests throughout the event.

With original titles such as "Girls Gone Wild," and "No-tel Motel," there is little doubt that Ozlo has what it takes to provide the soundtrack for this erotic evening. His signature sound combines jazz, funk, and rock into a mixture that will have you taking your shirt off on the dance floor, or at least wishing that hot guy at the bar would do it for you. Ozlo will be selling his latest release throughout the evening, but be warned: He plans on having a good time himself.

"Any reason to throw a party. I'm usually so lit by the end of the night that I need to be reminded of what happened," Ozlo said.

Sex Night IV will follow in the footsteps of Sex Nights I-III with prizes from Fascinations being given away throughout the event.

"We've had contests to see who can eat a cream-filled donut the sexiest, who can mock sex the best on the dance floor. It's all in good fun, we have a good time," said Ozlo. "And of course, there's always the hottest outfit."

If you are still debating staying home and studying, or going out and sexing it up, Ozlo has some words of wisdom.

"We're celebrating sodomy in the streets, old-school style. Plus there will be half-naked women-that should make people want to come," he said.

For a mere $4, you can celebrate your right to oral sex-if you are 21 or over, that is. Sex Night IV will begin at 9:30 p.m. at Plush, 340 E. Sixth St.
