Gosh! 'Napoleon Dynamite' stars to visit Centennial

Tickets to see actors from the movie “Napoleon Dynamite” go on sale today at Centennial Hall.

The actors Efren Ramirez and Aaron Ruell, who portrayed the characters Pedro and Kip, respectively, will appear Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. They are expected to talk about filming the movie, answer questions and sign autographs.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. at the Centennial Hall box office. The student price is $10 and the regular price is $12.

In conjunction with the event, the ASUA Speakers Board will also be hosting a Napoleon Dynamite look-alike contest. The winner will receive an autographed copy of the DVD, said Carrie Pixler, Speakers Board director.

Those interested in entering the contest or submitting questions for Ramirez and Ruell can e-mail the Speakers Board at speakersboard@gmail.com.

Students to debate Katrina response

Students will be discussing the government’s response to the Hurricane Katrina disaster relief and other hurricane-related issues at the Alumni Plaza today at noon.

The debate, sponsored by the UA Debate Club, will give students a chance to argue about a range of questions such as “Was the response to Katrina racially driven?” “Was media coverage of the disaster ‘fair and balanced?’” “Who do you think is to blame?”

The debate will take place in front of Heritage Hill at the Alumni Plaza.
