Student found dead in union

19-year-old man falls from upper level; no signs of foul play found

A student's body was found in the basement of the Student Union Memorial Center yesterday morning.

A UA employee discovered the body of Gregory Thomas Bauer near Cellar in Wilbur's Underground around 6 a.m.

Police arrived shortly after, and the student was pronounced dead at the scene by the Tucson Fire Department, said Sgt. Eugene Mejia, University of Arizona Police Department spokesman. [Read article]

2005 swim and dive preview: Seniors rising to challenge

Record setters, veterans expecting 'best year yet'

After third-place finishes in the NCAA Championships in March, the Arizona swimming and diving teams are looking to their seniors to make up what little ground remains in the national rankings.

"Everyone is really excited to start racing," said senior Marshi Smith. "This is going to be our best year yet."

Out of all the verses in the Bible, this is one of the most quoted. Its original meaning was, roughly, that those who struggle in life are truly fortunate because they will eventually become more virtuous through their toil.

But, unfortunately, the Bible doesn't go into what is supposed to happen after this occurs.

And therein lies one of the most annoying aspects of modern American culture: Nowadays, everyone wants to be a victim and struggling, in and of itself, has somehow become a virtue. [Read article]
