Record setters, veterans expecting 'best year yet'

After third-place finishes in the NCAA Championships in March, the Arizona swimming and diving teams are looking to their seniors to make up what little ground remains in the national rankings.

"Everyone is really excited to start racing," said senior Marshi Smith. "This is going to be our best year yet."

No. 2 Huskies to test unbeaten home streak

There's something to be said for home-court advantage.

At least, the No. 9 Arizona volleyball team hopes so.

Having won all seven of its home matches this season, the Wildcats could have the upper hand against No. 2 Washington tonight at 7 in McKale Center.

Arizona (15-3, 7-2 Pacific 10 Conference) is not only undefeated at home but also has swept six of its opponents, and in the games the Wildcats have come out on top, they won by an average of 6.5 points. [Read article]

Experience finally showing up for new defensive starters

Early in the 2005 season, the Arizona football team's defense went through some growing pains. Nine of the unit's 11 starters were juniors or younger, with seven of those players underclassmen.

Now, the defense has come together with two of its best performances of the year in consecutive weeks, and players are dishing out the pains rather than feeling them. [Read article]

While surgeons were able to repair the hole in the heart of Patriots linebacker and former Arizona football star Tedy Bruschi - a hole that caused Bruschi to have a stroke in February - all the surgeons in the world could never repair the hole still left in Bruschi's life. [Read article]
