Volleyball: Digging Deep
Depth, experience could push UA to next level
The 2004 Arizona volleyball team is older and wiser and ready to prove it.
With veteran experience and a deeper bench, the team was picked to finish 17th nationally by the USA Today/College Sports Television poll, but just sixth in the Pacific 10 Conference.
"The fact that we're ranked sixth in the conference is not really something we're paying much attention to," said head coach Dave Rubio. "We know there's six legitimate teams in our conference and we're one of them. So we'll just see how the cards fall when it's all said and done in the end of November."

Stoops: Wildcats' health improving
The Arizona football team is recovering from bumps and bruises from camp, but there is still no word on junior free safety Darrell Brooks.
Head coach Mike Stoops doesn't know yet about the status of Brooks, who has been out of practice since last week and is on crutches.
"It is still inconclusive what we found out, so we're still trying to get some things finalized. We don't have anything definite yet. That's as honest as I can be," Stoop said.

Pair of seniors transfer from Cats
When the Arizona baseball program returned to its first College World Series in 18 years, the Wildcats reestablished themselves as one of the premier baseball schools in the nation.
But with this refound success will come some unanticipated adversity.
Arizona lost two seniors who transferred to schools in Nevada and a volunteer pitching coach who received a paying job in Prescott.
