Least favorite band: "I don't like Britney Spears. Does that count? She has no talent. She's dirty!
1. Elliot Smith, "Twilight"
I like this song. It's like a good slow song. It's good. Mellow. But I can't understand very good. It sounds like a repeating, over and over again. I like it. It's a different sound. (Continues listening and unconsciously lifts two thumbs up while bobbing his head.) It's very relaxing.
2. Eminem, "Just Lose It"
It's kind of stupid! It sounds stupid. Like, it's good background, like a beat, but he's a stupid person! He just talks about stupid stuff, you know? Like, not very smart. (Lee makes a ring around his temple with his finger.) He's kind of crazy. He just makes noise. Not even words. Just ugh ugh ugh ugh. Noise. What's that? Ugh ugh ugh? It's nothing. It's not music. It's ugh ugh.
(After inquiring about when he will be in the newspaper, Lee said to a friend: "I'm going to be famous, like the Beatles."
3. Interpol, "Slow Hands"
Lee: It's fast and upbeat. Like rock 'n' roll. It's good guitar. I like it. It's different.
Wildcat:: Does it sound like anyone you've listened to?
Lee: It's kind of similar to what I hear on the radio. It's a little different but all the bands sound the same. Like this one is kind of a whine. It's like waahaahaah. Like what's that band? I just heard ...
Wildcat:: Can you sing the song?
Lee: 'Take me out. Take me out.' (To friend) What's that song? 'Take me out.'
Friend: Franz Ferdinand.
Lee: (To Wildcat:) Was that them?
Wildcat:: No.
Lee: Oh. That's what it sounds like. It's not original. I don't think so.
4. Green Day, "Holiday"
I like. It's a good start. (Begins bouncing his leg up and down with the beat) It gets me pumped. It sounds like an anthem, almost. Like an anthem for the band. (After a few moments) It changed. I don't like the end. (Lee makes faces of discontent, and then the music picks up again, evidenced by Lee bouncing his leg up and down again). It's good now again. It starts off really good. Like real pumping and real good. And then one part it changed. I like it. It's aggressive.
