High hopes for UA hoops
UA men's basketball head coach Lute Olson walked into the media room in McKale Center with a grin on his face as senior Channing Frye sat on a chair answering questions.
Olson has plenty to grin about this season as his Wildcats look to forget last year and set their sights on a national championship.
"Some of the guys that are returning have been very impressive," Olson said at yesterday's media day gathering. "Channing has made great progress."

Knauer's Korner: Heavner still best fit at QB
Already in this young NFL season we've had our share of quarterback controversies. Two teams - the New York Giants and the Pittsburgh Steelers - introduced young, potential-laden signal callers in the offseason and have since made opposing moves regarding their use.
The Giants traded for No. 1 overall pick Eli Manning during the draft but ultimately chose to keep free agent signing and former MVP Kurt Warner as their top-man.

Athlete of the Week: Golfer Kirkland shoots for the top
Junior golfer Cassandra Kirkland carded her first top-5 finish of the season with a runner-up performance at this weekend's Stanford Pepsi Intercollegiate. The native of France carded a second-round 67, her lowest tournament score at the University of Arizona and the lowest score shot by a Wildcat since Lorena Ochoa fired a 66 in 2002. This was Kirkland's second runner-up finish of her career and her third top-5. The Wildcat sat down to talk to Kirkland about the loss of Erica Blasberg, her favorite thing about Paris and which teammate would most likely streak down the mall.
