Soccer quintet back home for ASU match
The initials of freshman midfielder Amanda S. Urtuzuastegui are no coincidence. Needless to say, choosing to play soccer at Arizona wasn't exactly a popular choice in her family.
"It's like the favorite school of the family," Urtuzuastegui said, adding that most of her family has attended Arizona State. "My uncle, he had cancer. He wanted a boy, but my mom had me so he had to name me, and he named me after ASU."

Swimming: Ferns' golden opportunity
The UA campus is made up of average students, and UA swimmer Lyndon Ferns is not one of them, even if he'd like to think so.
His name may not sound familiar but his accomplishment surely is: Ferns was a member of the South African 400-meter freestyle relay team that won gold this summer in Athens, Greece, along with former UA swimmers Ryk Neethling and Roland Schoeman.
The former Wildcats are three-fourths of the squad holding the new 400-meter freestyle relay world record, coming in at 3 minutes, 13.17 seconds and beating archrival Australia's record set years earlier.

UA men's Tennis in Malibu for regionals
After suffering second-round singles losses in the Midland Tennis Classic last week in chilly weather, the Arizona men's tennis team looks to warm up a bit at the Roley West Regional in Malibu, Calif., today through Sunday.
This regional event will be one of 17 Division I Regional Championships taking place this weekend and next at campuses throughout the country. Nearly 600 schools annually send more than 7,000 players to their respective regional events.
