Holiday shopping guide for students
Thanksgiving has come and gone. Sadly, the nice four-day break from class is over. I hope everyone got their fill of all the wonderful food and uncomfortable conversation with family during the holiday.
Thanksgiving always gives students a nice break from the everyday stress of school, replacing it with the stress of dealing with crazy family members. Today, though, our focus turns back to the time-honored tradition that portends the end of every semester.

Athletes and fans are out of control
Anyone who has watched sports or sports highlights over the past week (especially this weekend) can see that college and professional athletes and their fans have seriously gotten out of control.
Here is a recap. Police are pressing charges against a Nebraska football player after an altercation with a Ruf/Nek on Nov. 13. At the end of this game, oranges were thrown at Nebraska players and coaches.

Students should be proud of involvement
In the aftermath of a heated election campaign season, I'd like to pay tribute to the University of Arizona students who participated in civic engagement. For years now, many of us older Americans have lamented the very low voting percentages of college-age students. However, this year I am proud to say that our student leaders made a very serious effort to provide opportunities for their fellow students to become informed and registered to vote. This was a bipartisan effort and it succeeded beyond all expectations.
