Soccer shakes up Pac-10
Wildcats look to build on Conference crown, 1st NCAA berth in '05
UA soccer head coach Dan Tobias had no bitterness and no regret this past weekend, during his trip to Cary, N.C., to watch Pac-10 foe UCLA battle Notre Dame for the NCAA women's College Cup national championship.
"They had a great season," Tobias said of the same UCLA squad his Wildcats shared their first-ever Pacific 10 Conference title with. "I was real happy to see a Pac-10 team in the final."

Volleyball continues enigmatic ways in '04
After a rollercoaster season, it was only fitting the Arizona volleyball team ended its year on a similar note in making its ninth straight NCAA tournament appearance.
The Wildcats (19-11) came off one of their most commanding performances of the year in a sweep over UC Irvine in Friday's first round, only to see it all come to an end as they lost to the hands of No. 9 San Diego in a five-game heartbreaker the following day.

Football: Cats to build on Stoops' early success
Recruiting heats up as campus clears out
While activity around campus will slow down a bit as students head home for winter break, the atmosphere in the Arizona football offices could be as hectic as ever.
Following a 3-8 campaign, highlighted by a 34-27 win over ASU in the Wildcats' final game, head coach Mike Stoops and his staff find themselves immersed in postseason recruiting to try and add talent and depth to a team Stoops believe could get much better.

Football
To give a grade to a team, you have to look at the entire season. First year head coach Mike Stoops came into a floored football program and brought the team to a somewhat respectable level in the Pacific 10 Conference. The team did finish 3-8, however, with a chance at running out a 5-6 record without having to break a sweat. By closing out wins against Washington State and Wisconsin, Arizona would have done in their first year what critics believed would have only come in 2006. Some would call those games moral victories, but moral victories are just for sentimental losers. As Arizona legend has it, however, if the Wildcats go 1-11, that one win better be against ASU.
