A woman's car was stolen sometime Wednesday afternoon while it was parked at the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity house, 638 E. University Blvd., reports stated.

The woman told police she parked her car at about 11 a.m., and when she returned at 3:15 p.m., the car was gone, reports stated.

The woman told police that whoever took the car removed a plastic bag containing her property and placed it in the parking lot, reports stated.

A witness saw the car last between 1:10 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., reports stated.

Police did not find any broken glass or other evidence indicating how the person stole the car, reports stated.

Police have no suspects or other witnesses.


A man's Jeep Cherokee was stolen from the north side of a Zone 1 parking lot, 1110 N. Cherry Ave., sometime Wednesday morning, reports stated.

Police found no broken glass or any other signs of forced entry in the parking lot, reports stated.

Police found the Jeep at 3:25 p.m. near St. Mary's Hospital, 1601 W. St. Mary's Road, reports stated.

The license place was still on the car, but it was not drivable because it sustained damage from a collision, reports stated.

Police have no suspects or witnesses.


A student was arrested for minor in possession at the Highland Market, 575 N. Highland Ave., when police responded to a noise complaint, reports stated.

A resident of Apache-Santa Cruz Residence Hall, 1441 E. Fifth St., called police and said another resident was playing his stereo too loudly, reports stated.

The resident who made the noise complaint told police the man went to the Highland Market just minutes before they arrived, reports stated.

When police found the man, he had a strong odor of intoxicants coming from his breath, and his eyes were bloodshot and watery, reports stated.

The man admitted he had been drinking, and police noticed his speech was slurred, reports stated.

The man was cited and released at the scene.


A man was fined for using an illegal parking permit after Parking and Transportation Services contacted police Wednesday afternoon at Sixth Street Parking Garage, 1117 E. Sixth St., reports stated.

PTS told police they had custody of a man for theft of a Zone 1 parking permit, reports stated.

The man told police his roommate left the permit for the man to use and asked him if he wanted to purchase it for $50, reports stated.

The man told police he did not know the permit was stolen, reports stated.

The man said he used the permit to park his girlfriend's car closer to campus because her permit is south of East Sixth Street, reports stated.

The man's girlfriend said she knew the man used the permit to park her car but did not know the permit was stolen, reports stated.

The man and his girlfriend agreed to pay a $300 fine for using the illegal permit, reports stated.

PTS did not want to press charges.


A man was arrested for underage drinking when they spotted him walking around the Second Street Parking Garage, 1340 E. Second St., with an opened beer bottle Jan. 15 at 11:15 p.m., reports stated.

When police asked the man if the beer he was carrying was his, he said, "Yes, that's my beer" and said he had had a little to drink, reports stated.

The man took two sips of beer in front of police, reports stated.

Police searched the man's car and found a case of Bud Light bottles and seven were empty, reports stated.

Police cited the man, who was released at the scene.


A student's truck was stolen sometime in the afternoon Thursday at 1231 N. Cherry Ave., reports stated.

The student said he parked his Dodge truck at about 8:30 a.m., and when he returned around 4:39 p.m. the truck was missing, reports stated.

The student told police the items in his truck included a $500 pair of sunglasses, racquetball rackets, shoes, barring rods, a two-way radio, gloves, a cell phone charger and an anti-theft device, reports stated.

Police have no suspects or witnesses.
