Football expects to ink 17 recruits
New UA coach Heupel among Stoops' first recruits at Oklahoma
In 1999, one of the first players Arizona head football coach Mike Stoops recruited in his first year as defensive coordinator at Oklahoma was quarterback Josh Heupel.
The Sooners were coming off a 5-6 season and Mike's brother Bob had just taken over the reins of the OU program.
Two years later, Oklahoma finished 12-0 and won the national title.

No rest for the weary
Arizona track trains nearly year-round
For some UA students, climbing to the fourth level of Sixth Street Parking Garage is hard. They'll suffer from a shortness of breath and fatigued legs.
Those students aren't on the track and field team.
Although the Arizona track and field teams' official season only runs less than five months, the work the team puts in lasts nearly the entire year.

Men Hoops: Olson impressed with freshmen, Radenovic
The Arizona men's basketball team played Saturday's 70-63 loss to Washington State without the services of junior guard Chris Rodgers but got some help from the bench.
Freshmen guards Daniel Dillon and Jesus Verdejo picked up some of the slack, playing eight solid minutes combined.
Head coach Lute Olson came away impressed with their efforts.
"I thought both Jesus (Verdejo) and Daniel (Dillon) played well," he said. "We should have played them more. At the time, you go with your veterans and you go with experience in that type of game."

Golf finishes fourth in only home tourney
Sophomore Henry Liaw used 17 birdies in the three-round PING-Arizona Intercollegiate tournament to finish fourth and lead the Arizona men's golf team to a fourth place team finish yesterday at Arizona National in Tucson.
Liaw shot a 6-under-par (207) while the Wildcats finished at even-par (852) behind tournament winner New Mexico (840).
The men's golf team, ranked No. 18 in the most recent Precept/GCAA Top-25 Coaches Poll, did not feel they played up to par, though the first team finished even.

Despite bum shoulder, Arnold supplies instant offense
Freshman guard Jessica Arnold has made her presence known on the UA women's basketball team. In Saturday's 84-77 overtime loss to No. 20 Maryland, Arnold notched 18 points, three rebounds and one assist.
The Tucson native was even more impressive in Arizona's 86-65 drubbing of Oregon State Jan. 22, as she tallied a career-high 21 points and swiped three steals. Despite tearing her labrum in her left shoulder for the third time Dec. 27 against Washington, Arnold remains one of the team's biggest offensive threats. On the season, she is averaging almost 16 points per game on 49 percent shooting.
