Heav-ed into the spotlight
UA's offensive hope rests on right arm of second-year QB
At the start of the 2003 season, two quarterbacks rose above the ranks, battling to be the main guy taking the snaps.
One was a redshirt sophomore southpaw who intended to show critics that you didn't have to be taller than six feet to be the brains behind the offense.
The other was a tall, lanky redshirt freshman that just wanted to make a name for himself before breaking out as top dog.

Volleyball sweeps opener in San Diego
It may have been closer than the No. 17 UA volleyball team would have liked, but the Wildcats still managed to sneak away with an opening night win, sweeping host San Diego State last night.
The Wildcats took the first two games over the Aztecs by scores of 30-26 and closed out the final match with a narrow 32-30 win in the third.
"It wasn't as smooth as I would have liked it to have been," said UA head coach Dave Rubio. "But I think putting a lineup together on such short notice, it was to be expected."

Golfer Liaw earns preseason honors
With the team's first action of the 2004-2005 season on tap for next week, UA sophomore men's golfer Henry Liaw has been able to crack a pair of preseason awards lists.
Golf World magazine named Liaw to its "Top 50 Players to Watch" list after the Rowland Heights, Calif., native posted eight top-20 finishes and won the Pacific 10 Conference individual championships in the spring.
