Baseball: Brown HR delivers UA win
With the No. 10 Arizona baseball team down to its final out and its best base runner gunned out at second base on a questionable call, things looked bleak for the Wildcats.
Somebody forgot to tell Jordan Brown Arizona (7-0) was supposed to lose this heartbreaker.
Instead Brown, a junior first baseman, broke the hearts of No. 11 ASU (6-5) when he lined a two-run homerun on a fastball over the right field fence to send the Wildcats to a dramatic 7-6 victory over its in-state rivals in 14 innings last night at Sancet Stadium.

Softball: Hollowell Pac-10 pitcher of week
Coming off a flawless outing Sunday, Arizona pitcher Alicia Hollowell was named Pacific 10 Conference Pitcher of the Week for the week of Feb. 7-14.
The junior from Suisun, Calif., pitched a five-inning perfect game against Tennessee-Chattanooga Sunday in the Kajikawa Classic in Phoenix.
The award is Hollowell's 11th for the No. 1 Wildcats (6-0). Hollowell (3-0), who struck out 11 of 15 batters Sunday, has fanned 46 in 24 innings this season with a 0.58 ERA.

Men's Hoops: Sweep pushes Wildcats into AP top 10
With a sweep of the Los Angeles schools over the weekend, the No. 10 Arizona men's basketball team (21-4 overall, 11-2 Pacific 10 Conference) moved into The Associated Press Top 10 for the first time since the preseason polls.
Since the Jan. 29 loss to Washington State, the Wildcats have been a difficult team to face. They are outscoring their opponents on average by 15.3 points per game and out-rebounding their opponents by an average of 6.2 boards per game.

Icecats: The last skate: Six seniors say goodbye
The Arizona Icecats close out the 2004-2005 regular season Friday and Saturday in the Tucson Convention Center Arena. After the final goal is scored, the Zamboni will clean the ice and hockey will be played there again soon enough.
But for six members of this Icecats squad, Saturday night will be the final time they play for head coach Leo Golembiewski before a "Madhouse on Main Street" crowd.

Women's Hoops: Jones tames Trojans, tendonitis on route to award
Despite suffering from tendonitis in her right arm, junior guard Natalie Jones has been on fire as of late. Jones was named US Bank Pacific 10 Conference Player of the Week for Feb. 7-13, as she averaged 20 points, four assists, four rebounds and more than two steals in the Wildcats' sweep over UCLA and USC this weekend. Against UCLA Thursday, Jones notched a career-high 25 points, and recorded 15 points on 100 percent shooting with six assists against the Trojans Sunday. This marks the first time Jones has received this award and is the 34th all-time selection for Arizona. Jones sat down with the Wildcat after Monday's practice to discuss injuries, tundras and turning 21.
