'Fling' not unholy, time for family, fun

Editor:

This is in response to the March 19 letter "Passover and Easter forgotten for 'Fling'," written by Jean Smith. Who gives a rat's ass when the Spring Fling is, as long as they have good rides and better food! Is there a passage in the Bible that says: "Thou shalt not have any fun during thy Lord's week of resurrection?" I don't know what you and your family do for the holiday, but for my family, Easter is a time of gathering and just plain enjoying each other's company. What better way to do this than go to the Spring Fling?

Any religion which forbids pleasure is in need of serious review. Now don't start calling me an oppressive fascist, but when it comes to that zealous, religious "suffering for Jesus" stuff, I say the world would be better off without it.

If you can't enjoy yourself on a religious holiday, then do the rest of us a favor and stay home, repent for our sins and let everyone else have fun at the Fling.
