The UA is more than a collection of academic departments. It is also a collection of art, photography and science museums.

The Museum of Art, southeast of Park Avenue and Speedway Boulevard - inside the Arts Complex - is a multilevel building displaying 4,300 pieces, ranging from 600-year-old works to paintings fresh off the canvases of local artists. The museum is open 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays. Admission is free.

The Arizona State Museum, at the corner of Park Avenue and University Boulevard, is a two-building anthropological museum. The main exhibition is "Ten Tribes of the Southwest." The museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. Admission is free.

The Center for Creative Photography, located just east of the Museum of Art, displays classic and contemporary photos. The museum is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. Admission is free. A photography library is also housed in this building.

The Flandrau Science Center, at the corner of University Boulevard and Cherry Avenue, is a science museum, observatory and planetarium. Exhibits on astronomy, planetary science and optics line the halls, and educational and entertainment programs are presented in the theater. Business hours and admission fees vary - call 621-STAR for more information.

The Mineralogical Museum is located in the basement of the Flandrau Science Center and displays gems, rocks and minerals from around the world. The museum is closed until the end of August.
