His teams won three national crowns in all - in 1976, 1980 and 1986. During his tenure from 1973 to '96, his Wildcat teams rang up 856 wins and 12 post season appearances. His only national player-of-the-year winner, Terry Francona in 1980, was recently named manager of the Philadelphia Phillies.
