The Arizona women's tennis team fell to 4-10 on the season after getting rolled by Northwestern 8-1 yesterday afternoon at the Robson Tennis Center.
Only UA senior Monique Allegre managed to pull out a win in singles, beating Northwestern's Laura Guignon 2-6, 6-4, 6-4.
The Northwestern Wildcats improved to 6-4 on the season with the non-conference victory, led by the No. 31-ranked doubles team of Kathryn Nasser and Guignon, who defeated Allegre and freshman Lindsay Blau 8-4.
Northwestern won all the doubles matches on the day and all the remaining singles matches.
Nasser cruised past Blau 6-0, 6-3, while Shannon Duffy beat UA sophomore Joanna Buczkowska 6-1, 6-4. Colleen Cheng topped UA sophomore Michelle Gough 7-5, 6-2, and Leah Jackson defeated UA junior Vanessa Abel 6-4, 6-2, while UA freshman Carly Stringer fell to Jennifer Lutgert 6-0, 6-0.
The Wildcats will look to end a seven-game losing streak and pick up their first victory in Pacific 10 Conference play, where they are currently 0-7, when they travel to play Washington State and Oregon in Pullman, Wash., next weekend.
