Men's golf team hosts tourney
The Arizona men's golf team is hosting the 1999 PING Arizona Intercollegiate Golf Tournament today and tomorrow. It will be held at the Raven Golf Club at Sabino Springs beginning at 8 a.m., and includes 17 of the country's top golf programs.
The Wildcats, ranked No. 23 nationally, can expect to encounter some tough competition from the six other top-25 teams on the tournament's roster. But having the tournament so close to home should help the Wildcats, one of the players said.
"We do have a pretty good chance. This is going on in our home court and we have the talent, we just need to take responsibility and play well," UA's Derek Gillespie said. - Jensen Karp
