The UA dance department closes the Spring 2001 semester with the showcase of faculty and student talent in "Spring Collection." The concert begins at 8 p.m. this evening and features "Twisted Tango," "ModernCool," "English Suite" and the savory "Bon Apetit." Many of the selections are choreographed to music composed by students in the UA music department. Tickets for the Ina Gittings Dance Theatre production can be purchased for $7-$9 through the UA Dance Division at 621-4698.

The UA theater arts department delves into the complex world of intimate relationships with tonight's 7:30 Workshop Series Production of "Man, Woman, Dog" and "Marla's Devotion." Conflicts arising over the termination of long-term relationships appear in the former play, while spiritual enlightenment and professional development plague the performers in the latter piece. Both will be performed in Directing Studio 116 in the new Drama building at the southeast corner of campus. Tickets for the shows are free, however space is limited. For more information, call the Fine Arts box office at 621-1162.

The Center for Creative Photography made Lori Novak and her "Collected Visions" famous with the presentation of her printed work and multimedia exhibits. The center takes art one step further with today's "Collecting Days" between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. CCP staff members will help students and faculty scan treasured family photos onto the "Collected Visions" Web site for possible future use in her work. Novak defines family snapshots as including "all loved ones - friends as well as pets." For more information on this event, call Jeanne Courtemanche at 621-7968.

The UA campus recreation department brings the GM Extreme Team College Games to the UA Mall today between noon and 4 p.m. Stop sweating your finals and exchange the library scenery for the open outdoors. GM has brought in display cars, obstacle courses and a variety of other activities to temporarily get your mind off your school work. The sun is hot, so make sure to fuel up on plenty of water spiced with a twist of competitive spirit. For more information on these games, call Mirum Washington-White at 626-3396.

With organizations such as the UA Oasis Center and Greek Life conducting Mall events in honor of Sexual Awareness Month, the German Film Series jumps on the bandwagon with tonight's 7:30 screening of "Schlaf der Vernunft" in the Modern Languages building auditorium. The film features a husband and wife team whose opinions differ greatly on birth control methods. For more information, call Barbara Kosta at 621-7385.
