Unfortunately for the band Cartoon Boyfriend, the title of this album says it all. Nipples (Drool Records) not only lacks taste in its title, it lacks any meaningful lyrics as well.
Just as any one of the mediocre tracks begins to seem worthwhile, the boys of Cartoon Boyfriend interrupt the melody with such deep lyrics as "Whoa se–orita wanna hang with me?/ I'm a little stinky butt of chronic weed/...oh se–orita wanna feel my prize?" from the track "When I Grow Up." Oh, the irony.
Or what about the lead off track of the CD, "Two Hicks and a Immigrant" (sic). The song starts out reasonably well in the instrumental department until the lead singer begins whining about the "two hicks and a immigrant" (again, sic) next door. The incorporation of random expletives into this song ups its oh-so-intelligent factor, adding nothing in the vein of musical quality.
The sad thing about this album is that the band most likely intended to make a mockery of itself. Just take a look at the cover of the album. The graphic on the disk backs up this theory as well with a picture of a giant breast, its nipple centered right over the hole in the CD.
So maybe curious teenage boys will get a kick out of Cartoon Boyfriend's latest enterprise. Otherwise, this particular "nipple" probably will not even get the undivided attention of a nursing infant.
