Icecats ready to face West Chester

By Chris Suffecool

Arizona Daily Wildcat

The Icecats will attempt to remain unbeaten at home this season when West Chester comes to the Tucson Convention Center for games tonight and tomorrow night.

Arizona is coming off a two-game home sweep of the Colorado Buffaloes last weekend. In the games, No. 4 UA outscored the Buffaloes, 18-3.

No. 18 West Chester is no Colorado, however.

The Golden Rams are 5-2-2 so far this season. Their two losses have come on the road against No. 7 Delaware and No. 16 Arizona State.

Senior forward Paul Dorn said the games will be interesting because he and other Icecats know many West Chester players.

Dorn played with one of West Chester's top players - forward Josh Zelesnick - in high school. The two remain close friends.

"He's a friend of mine" Dorn said. "I play golf with him during the summer at home."

Dorn knows that the games won't be easy, but said the Icecats should be able to beat the Golden Rams.

"It's going to be tough this weekend, no doubt," he said."(But) if we come out and play our game, we shouldn't have any trouble."

The Icecats last faced the Golden Rams last November, when UA defeated WCU 5-0 in West Chester, Penn.

While the Icecats breezed past Colorado last weekend, senior forward Ed Carfora said the Icecats will get the job done despite the tougher competition.

"I think it'll be a pretty good game," Carfora said. "I think we'll handle them, we're going to try a couple of new things this weekend. If we could blow these guys out it would send a message to other teams we'll play later in the year."
