Today is the day to tell the people you care about that they are awesome, sexy, loveable, cuddly or cool. Valentine's Day, even if you aren't in a relationship, is a day to show your appreciation to those close to you. Heck, show it to people you don't even know! Spread the wealth and have a great Valentine's Day (guys - roses are always a good idea).
You've got spare time, so go get some free anonymous AIDS testing, a benefit given by the UA Campus Health Service during sexual responsibility week. Go to the second floor of Old Main to the Health Promotion and Preventative Services offices from noon to 3 p.m. for anonymous testing. If you haven't yet experienced the wonder that is the Integrated Learning Center, today and tomorrow are the days to check it out during the ILC Open House. Meet in room 103 at 2 p.m., 3 p.m. or 4 p.m. today or tomorrow to hear a brief presentation about the functions and amenities provided by the UA's newest facility. Also, check out the new information commons, with scores of brand new computer stations complete with 18-inch flat panel monitors and high-speed Internet connnections. With terrorism awareness at an all-time high in the United States, knowledge is your best weapon for fending off evil foes. Head over to the Arizona Cancer Center, Kiewit Auditorium, from 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. to participate in the College of Public Health Bioterrorism Conference. Raymond Woolsey, a vice president for UA Health Sciences, and Carlos C. Campbell, director of the Arizona Area Health Education Centers Program, will moderate the presentation by Sen. Bill Frist, R-Tenn., "Bioterrorism: The Federal Agenda." For a wonderful night out on Valentine's Day, check out the Grigorovich Ballet, a company of 90 dancers founded by Yuri Grigorovich, as it presents "Spartacus." UApresents brings the former artistic director and chief choreographer of the Bolshoi Ballet from 1964 to 1994. The ballet spans three acts, 12 scenes and nine monologues. Aram Khachaturian composed the music with a libretto by Grigorovich. Tickets cost $54, $48 and $42 for the show, which starts at 7:30 p.m. at Centennial Hall.
