After starting the season 11-1, the UA baseball team dropped all three of its games this weekend to Texas A&M.
The Aggies completed the home sweep a year after the Wildcats swept A&M in Tucson.
The 13-6 loss yesterday dropped Arizona's record to 11-4 overall, while Texas A&M improved to 6-1.
A day after the Aggies held the Wildcats to one hit, A&M jumped on the Wildcats quickly yesterday, scoring three runs in the first and one in the second off Arizona sophomore starter Chris Goodman for a quick 4-0 advantage.
The Wildcats cut the lead in half in the top of the fourth on sophomore Marc Kaiser's two-run home run. However, the two-run deficit would be as close as the Wildcats would get as A&M scored seven unearned runs in the bottom of the inning to take an 11-2 lead.
The Wildcats hurt themselves by committing three errors that led to the big fourth inning as A&M sent 11 hitters to the plate. Matt Alexander hit a bases-clearing triple to score the first three runs of the inning for A&M.
The Wildcats would plate four more runs on the afternoon, but it would not be enough.
Goodman (1-1) picked up the loss on the mound for the Wildcats, giving up nine runs, only four of which were earned, in three innings pitched. Kaiser's fourth-inning blast was the first of his career.
Saturday, the Wildcats were held to only one hit, and sophomore pitcher Joe Little lost the first game of his career, 9-4. The left-hander gave up seven runs on eight hits in just 3.1 innings pitched.
On Friday, sophomore pitcher Sean Rierson (3-1) suffered his first loss of the season, giving up four runs and eight hits in a 4-0 loss to the Aggies.
Arizona will return to Tucson and Sancet Field for a three-game series with UC Irvine beginning Friday. First pitch with the Anteaters is scheduled for 1 p.m.
