Junior guard Jason Gardner was named a third-team All-American yesterday by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
Gardner, a 5-foot-10, 181-pound guard from Indianapolis, is averaging 20.6 points, 3.1 rebounds and 4.7 assists through 28 games this season. Gardner has scored in double figures in 26 of 28 games and has collected at least five assists in a game 17 times this season.
Gardner has 14 20-point and four 30-point games to his credit this year, including a career-best 34 on two occasions. Gardner has earned Pacific 10 Conference Player of the Week, Fiesta Bowl Classic and Coaches vs. Cancer IKON Classic Most Valuable Player honors over the course of this season.
He is joined on the third team by Southern California senior forward Sam Clancy. Stanford junior forward Casey Jacobsen made the second team. The three are the only representatives of the Pacific 10 Conference.
