A Tucson woman was arrested for drunken driving Tuesday after her car got stuck on a median near campus, reports stated.

Police saw the 19-year-old woman looking down at the interior of her car while driving westbound on East Speedway Boulevard. Her right tires hit and jumped over the curb. Officers saw sparks coming from the underbelly of the vehicle when it rubbed against the concrete curb, reports stated.

The vehicle then re-entered the road, drove across all three lanes, and hit and drove onto the median. The car drove over several shrubs before getting stuck in the dirt, reports stated.

When officers approached the car, they saw a male passenger get out of the car while the driver revved the engine and spun the tires in the sand, reports stated.

Police spoke to the woma, but did not smell any alcohol on her breath because of the pollen and dirt that had been kicked into the air, reports stated.

"I didn't see the curb," she told police. "I'm not that fucked up," she said, reports stated.

Officers noticed that the woman had a minor head injury as a result of the accident, and that the car's body and window had also been damaged.

During their conversation with the woman, police noticed that she had frequent mood swings.

Officers tried to call the vehicle's owner but were unsuccessful.

The woman told police she had "two shots" at her work before trying to drive back to the passengers.

While speaking with police, the woman saw that an officer had dropped his pen. Officers saw the woman fall over when she tried to pick up the pen. Police helped the woman to her feet, before taking her to the University of Arizona Police Department for a breath analysis test.

Police administered the test and learned the woman had a blood alcohol level of .194, more than double the legal limit of .08, reports stated.

She was cited and released on suspicion of driving while being impaired to the slightest degree, driving under the influence of alcohol, extreme DUI and being a minor operating a car with alcohol in the body, reports stated.

A UA student was placed into the diversion program Wednesday after he told police he "just finished smoking a joint," reports stated.

A resident assistant told police that an odor of burnt marijuana was coming from a room in Cochise Residence Hall, 1018 E. South Campus Drive. When police arrived at the room, they smelled a similar odor and spoke with the 17-year-old resident.

He said he had been smoking marijuana in his room just before police arrived. When police asked if there was any marijuana or paraphernalia in the room, he handed over a scale, a metal poker, rolling papers, a cigarette roller, tweezers, a pipe and an 8-gram sack of weed, reports stated.

He was placed into the UA diversion program for suspicion of unlawful possession of marijuana, reports stated.

Two Tucson men were arrested near campus Tuesday morning when police noticed numerous alcoholic beverages near them.

Police saw the 50 and 49-year-old men sitting on a porch near 1135 N. Park Ave. Officers drove by them to check on their welfare and noticed many alcoholic cans and bottles around them, reports stated.

The men identified themselves, and officers ran a background check on them. Both men had warrants issued for their arrest. One man, 50, was arrested and booked into Pima County Jail for failing to appear in court for a trespassing charge. The other man was arrested and booked into Pima County Jail for failing to appear in court on a charge of drinking alcohol in public, reports stated.

A UA student's car window was shattered Tuesday while parked in a campus lot, reports stated.

The woman told police she left her car at approximately 1 p.m. at 1904 E. Helen St. When she returned four hours later, she noticed that the driver-side window of her car was completely smashed and that the car was still locked.

She told police that no items were stolen from the vehicle and that there was no other damage. She also said that shards of glass had been knocked on the ground and inside her car, reports stated.
