Centennial Hall expected to sell out to see Dr. Drew, Adam Carolla
UA students will have another opportunity Dec. 1 to ask the questions weighing on their minds: "Can I drink beer for breakfast on a regular basis, or only occasionally?" " Why does my roommate have such strange nightly habits?" "How can I make 'it' last all night?"
Hosts Dr. Drew Pinsky and Adam Carolla are bringing the nationally syndicated radio show "Loveline" to Centennial Hall to answer students' most intimate questions about addictions, relationships and sex.
The taping will mark the third time in two years that the duo has come to the University of Arizona. Last year, they sold out Centennial Hall, which seats 2,400.
"We thought we'd bring back someone that was educational and entertaining," said Elizabeth Young, director of the Associated Students of the University of Arizona Speakers Board.
"Dr. Drew," as Pinsky calls himself on the program, is a board-certified internist and addiction specialist. Carolla is his comedic partner on the program.
A nationally broadcast radio show airing Sunday through Thursday nights, "Loveline" was once also an MTV television program.
Students will ask Pinsky and Carolla questions live. Written questions, phone-ins and other options allowing students to ask questions confidentially are not allowed. Students' questions will not be screened before they are asked.
Yet, UA students were not shy about asking even the most intimate questions last year, Young said.
ASUA treasurer Cale Miller, who attended "Loveline" last year, paraphrased some of what he considers the most memorable questions that UA students asked last year.
"The only time I masturbate is into my girlfriend's shoes. Do I have a problem?" he said one student asked.
Miller's paraphrase of another person had a similarly weighty concern.
"I can't have an orgasm in Arizona. I've had orgasms in California, and other states, but not in Arizona."
The show is tentatively scheduled for 8 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. Ticket prices have not been announced, but the price of student tickets will be between $8 and $12, Young said. Students must bring their CatCard to purchase tickets at the reduced rate.
Tickets will be on sale to students from Nov. 6-9 only, and will not be sold by phone on Nov. 6. Any remaining tickets will be offered to the public Nov. 10.
