Arizona women's golfer Laura Myerscough was named to the 2002 United States Women's World Amateur team last week.

Myerscough and two teammates will compete in the 2002 Women's World Amateur Team Championship, Oct. 16 to Oct. 19, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Myerscough was an integral part to Arizona's Pac-10 championship, and NCAA championship qualifying team.

"It's quite an honor for Laura to be selected to the team," head coach Greg Allen said. "This will be her second appearance on the World Amateur Team and her third major international competition following the Curtis Cup earlier this summer. We couldn't be more proud to have her representing the United States."

The competition has been played every two years since 1964. The United States, which finished 17th in 2000, has won the Espirito Santo Trophy a record 13 times.
