Underage drinking

A student was cited for possessing alcohol underage early Thursday morning, reports stated.

The 19-year-old was outside of the Texaco gas station at East Sixth Street and North Park Avenue. When officers drove into the gas station, they saw a student put a silver can on the ground and walk away, reports stated.

Officers walked up to the area where the student was standing and noticed the only can on the ground was a beer can.

Police saw the student later that morning, just north of the Arizona Sonora Residence Hall, 910 E. Fifth St. The student had bloodshot eyes and smelled like alcohol, reports stated

He told police that he had been drinking beer, including the can he put down at the gas station.

He was cited and released on suspicion of drinking alcohol underage, reports stated.

Loitering

A Tucson man was arrested Wednesday night after police saw him sleeping inside a campus library, reports stated.

Police went to the medical library, 1350 N. Warren Ave. and saw the 52-year-old man asleep on the third floor. He was sitting on a library couch with his feet perched on an ottoman, reports stated.

Employees told officers that the man had been told that he was not allowed to sleep in the building.

Police ran a background check on the man and learned that he had a warrant from the Pima County Sheriff's Office for issuing bad checks, reports stated.

Officers searched the man and found several locker keys in his possession.

The man said the keys went to several lockers in the library.

Employees told the man he was not welcome back to library for six months and that he had to remove his items from the lockers within the next 24 hours, reports stated.

He was arrested and taken to Pima County Jail on suspicion of having a warrant, reports stated.

He was warned that if he were seen loitering inside the library he would be arrested for trespassing.

Oustanding warrant

A Tucson man was arrested Thursday morning on campus after police learned he had a warrant issued for his arrest, reports stated.

Officers saw the 56-year-old at 2:52 a.m. near the Manzanita-Mohave Residence Hall bike racks, 101 N. Park Ave.

They identified the man and ran a background check. They learned that he had a warrant for shoplifting, reports stated.

Police searched him and found two pairs of pliers, some clothes and a metal pipe, reports stated.

Police believe the man was "shopping for bikes," reports stated.

They arrested him on suspicion of having a warrant and took him to Pima County Jail, reports stated.

He was told that if he returned to campus he would be cited for trespassing.

Lost cellular phone

A UA student told police that his cellular phone was stolen Wednesday somewhere on campus, reports stated.

He told police that the phone was taken sometime between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. from his pocket.

Police found no evidence that the phone was stolen and decided to classify it as missing, reports stated.

The student cancelled his phone service.

There are no suspects and no witnesses at this time.

Invalid license plate

Police cited a Tucson man on campus Thursday morning after they saw him driving with fictitious license plates, reports stated.

Officers saw the man's vehicle near North Mountain Avenue and East Fifth Street. They saw the same car driving later on and thought it was suspicious. They spoke to the driver when they saw he stopped inside a UA construction site.

Police spoke to the driver as the passenger left the car to enter a UA building and get an employment application.

The man could not offer police an explanation why his license plate was registered to a different vehicle or why the plate's registration had expired, reports stated.

Officers ran a background check on the plate and left a message with the registered owners.

The driver was cited and released on suspicion of not having a driver's license and knowingly displaying fictitious plates, reports stated.
