BERKELEY, Calif. ÷ Call it a redemption game for Luke Walton.

After getting shut out in the Wildcats' last game against the Golden Bears in Tucson, the senior scored 20 points and made two clutch 3-pointers in Arizona's 88-75 victory in Haas Pavilion last night.

Arizona moved within one game of claiming the Pacific-10 Conference title and a victory against Stanford tomorrow could clinch it. [Read article]

UA one win away from Pac-10 title

BERKELEY, Calif. ÷ Warm her up because the fat lady is about to explode.

Even though it's going to take a win tomorrow afternoon against Stanford to clinch the Pac-10 Conference title, by the talk of the Wildcat players in the locker room after the game, it's almost said and done.

They have one thing on their mind and that's revenge against the Cardinal after it gave Arizona its lone blemish on its conference record. Plus a nice new piece of jewelry wouldn't be so bad either. [Read article]

No. 24 Wildcats send message with blow out win over No. 9 Cardinal

If there was any doubt that the Arizona basketball team deserves to play in the NCAA tournament next month, it was erased last night.

The No. 24 Wildcats used a 23-5 run in the first half to beat No. 9 Stanford 79-64 at McKale Center.

"We had them back on their heels from the beginning," head coach Joan Bonvicini said. [Read article]

Softball ready for final home tourney

UA faces New Mexico State and Dutch National team to open Hillenbrand invitational

When UA head coach Mike Candrea said he didn't like the 8-0 victory over the University of New Mexico on Sunday, he wasn't referring to the team's offensive performance.

In fact, the Wildcats dominated the game, putting the eight-run mercy rule into effect after six innings of play, sending the Lobos home with a 1-4 tournament record. [Read article]

photo Baseball welcomes Aggies' arrival

Everything seemingly came together for the Arizona baseball team, all in the matter of one weekend.

The Wildcats (9-4) roll into today's series opener against Texas A&M after winning three straight last weekend in their most impressive stretch of the season behind solid offensive performances.

First baseman Pat Reilly hit safely in all four games last weekend to extend his hitting streak, dating back to last year, to 18 games. [Read article]

Gymcats host No. 8 Stanford

Tonight, the No. 17 Arizona gymnastics team will compete against its fourth-straight ranked opponent in No. 8 Stanford öö most likely without sophomore Jamie Schell.

After losing to No. 1 UCLA last Sunday at Pauley Pavilion, the Wildcats (4-6, 1-3) return home to face Stanford (8-2-1, 3-1-1) at 7:30 p.m. at McKale Center.

Because of the rash of injuries the Gymcats have suffered this season, sophomore Jamie Duce was forced into action in the all-around against UCLA, where she posted a personal record of 38.750. [Read article]

For tennis, Tempe is home away from home

The Arizona men's tennis team will hit the road and take on Arizona State this afternoon in Tempe, which could be considered a home away from home for many of the Wildcat players.

UA head coach Bill Wright said besides playing at ASU once a year, many of the players play in tournaments in the Phoenix area and feel right at home.

That will be important because Arizona has lost two straight road matches and is looking to get back on the winning track against its in-state rival. [Read article]

photo Laxcats return from bye to face ASU and Fort Lewis at home

After a week off, the healing men's lacrosse team returns to action this weekend to face ASU today and Ft. Lewis tomorrow at home.

The No. 5 Laxcats (2-1,2-0) benefited from the bye week after having some lingering injuries, head coach Adam Hopkins said.

"We had a bunch of guys who were not exactly injured, but hurt. It gave our bigger injuries time to heal as well," Hopkins said.

The team will be without star senior midfielder Bryan Moore, who is sitting out this weekend's games with a torn calf. Moore is also expected to miss Tuesday's match-up with NCAA Division III St. John Fisher, but should be ready to go for the team's trip to Utah. Senior attackman Josh Morrison, who had a concussion against No. 2 Colorado State, will also return. [Read article]
