A fight between members of two different UA fraternities broke out on campus Sunday, reports stated.

UAPD officers responded to the intersection of East First Street and North Cherry Avenue where members of Sigma Chi and Delta Tau Delta were allegedly fighting in the street, reports stated.

Two male students, who rushed to the scene to break up the fight, sustained minor injuries. They did not want to press charges and the students who struck them could not be identified, reports stated.

One of the students had a cut under his left eye, and the other student had cuts near his left eye and on his elbow, reports stated.

Police observed that one of the students was heavily intoxicated, reports stated.

UA police responded to reports of criminal damage and malicious mischief at Delta Tau Delta fraternity, 1050 N. Cherry Ave., Sunday, reports stated.

Two members of Delta Tau Delta told police that unknown people had thrown bottles from the roof of the Sigma Chi fraternity, damaging their house and vehicles, reports stated.

Earlier that evening police responded to a report of a fight at the same location.

One Delta Tau Delta member said the bottles, which were thrown before the fight, damaged his Toyota Landcruiser, causing a small dent on the trunk and knocking off the emblem, reports stated.

A window on the south side of the house was also broken. Police have no suspects or witnesses, reports stated.

A traffic control gate was damaged at 1200 E. South Campus Drive, Sunday, reports stated.

A UA officer responded to the scene after a Facilities Management employee reported the broken gate.

Police observed that the gate was damaged near the hinges and the arm was lying on the ground. There was also an eight-to-ten foot long skid mark on the ground leading up to the gate, reports stated.

Also on the ground were a pair of windshield wiper blades and a Honda emblem, reports stated.

All of the evidence was taken into UAPD property, and crews were called to repair the damage, reports stated.

Three UA students were cited on charges of underage consumption of alcohol Saturday, after police found multiple cans of cold beer and baggies containing a marijuana-like substance in a vehicle parked on campus, reports stated.

A UA police officer was patrolling a lot south of Coronado Residence Hall, 822 E. Fifth St., when he saw a group of males gathered around a yellow pickup with a camper shell on it. When the students saw the officer, they shut the door to the camper and walked away from the scene. The officer saw three other males inside the camper, reports stated.

The officer approached the camper and when it opened he noticed a large plastic smoking device in plain view. The officer detained all of the men and noted that the smoking device smelled like burnt marijuana, reports stated.

Police called a canine unit in to search the camper.

One of the males told police that he used the smoking device to smoke tobacco, reports stated.

The search dog discovered two baggies of what appeared to be marijuana, two additional glass smoking devices, and four cans of beer that were cold to the touch, concealed in compartments that ran along the bed of the pickup, reports stated.

Two of the males told police that they had no knowledge of any drugs or alcohol inside the camper. They, along with the third male in the camper, were cited for underage consumption, reports stated.

The other male refused to answer officers' questions and indicated that he had been drinking earlier at a local restaurant. He gave police a fake California ID, reports stated.

He was also cited on charges of possessing drug paraphernalia, being a minor in possession, and misrepresenting his age to purchase liquor, reports stated.

Residents of Graham-Greenlee Residence Hall had to evacuate their rooms Friday morning after someone tampered with a fire sprinkler on the third floor, causing a flood, reports stated.

UA police and Tucson Fire crews responded to the residence hall at 1418 E. Fourth St., and found the sprinkler spraying water on the floor. TFD turned off the main water system to stop the flow and told police that it appeared that the sprinkler had been tampered with, reports stated.

Police found an empty five-gallon water container on the floor, 10 feet from the sprinkler. The container had scuffmarks on it that were consistent with being thrown or kicked down the hall, reports stated.

Water entered all the rooms on the third floor. Officers decided to go into each room and lift valuables off the floor so that they would not be damaged, reports stated.

In one room, police found a man who was sleeping. As they woke him, they noticed that he smelled like alcohol, and they saw two garbage bags full of empty beer cans on the floor, reports stated.

He was later cited on charges of being a minor in possession.

Residents had to evacuate after water started seeping through the floor and light fixtures down to the second floor. Students were not allowed to re-enter the building until the alarms were reset and Residence Life gave its OK.
