Hall's women's rights column right on, yet title a little off

Thanks to Caitlin Hall for writing such a fine ode to feminism in yesterday's Wildcat ("How Îfeminism' is destroying the women's movement"). I completely agree with her plea to "bring down the barriers" of gender roles and restrictions. I would also like to second the kudos given to Students for Choice and those who made the performance of Eve Ensler's "Vagina Monologues" possible. [Read article]

Regents missed the tuition boat

Yesterday, tuition was increased more than ever in the state of Arizona.

Good, right?

Hard budget times, right?

No.

See, students won't see the fruits of this $1,000 increase. Administrators will. Regents will. Students won't.

This increase is about public relations. Arizona got a D minus on accessibility, and now the guys in suits running the universities can say they've done something to try and fix it. [Read article]

Chin up, Doug

Student body president Doug Hartz took a couple of hard blows this week. Both of the issues he worked tirelessly on during his tenure, tuition and fall break, died.

But still, Hartz deserves credit. Although his stances on both issues were misguided, he has put more time into being president than the two or three guys who sat in his seat before him.

He's smart, charismatic and reliable. [Read article]

Our leadership has proven time and time again that we can overcome economic crisis and global conflict. In contrast to our sins of slavery, we now relish the diversity of our population.
