Theatre technician talks about landscape, difficulty of setting cacti on fire
WILDCAT: So what are you building currently?
RUDACK: A tree.
WILDCAT: Nice. For what?
RUDACK: A Midsummer's Night Dream.
WILDCAT: Are you painting it?
RUDACK: No, making it with foam. We are taking tree legs and laminating foam onto a steel frame.
WILDCAT: Wow. I used to construct things with foam when I was little. Except it was my dad's shaving foam and I would make a little bathing suit with it. Very cute.
RUDACK: There you go. Do you still do it?
WILDCAT: No! I mean, it's not really a tree, but I thought I was pretty dang creative. Speaking of bathing suits, are you so glad that the weather is heating up?
RUDACK: Yeah. But we have a little dungeon action going on over where I work, so you go in when it's dark and come out when it's dark.
WILDCAT: That's totally like the newsroom.
RUDACK: Do you have a pole to slide down there?
WILDCAT: Yes, yes we do.
RUDACK: Do you have a red phone?
WILDCAT: No, but we have red blinky lights on our phones.
RUDACK: Do you have a Batmobile?
WILDCAT: Yes. Well, actually it's an old beat up truck that says Arizona Daily Wildcat on the side. But, I am concerned that the roles have reversed in this conversation, I'm supposed to be asking the questions.
RUDACK: Sorry.
WILDCAT: So, do nice days like today make you want to frolic through meadows?
RUDACK: Okay. Do you see a lot of meadows around here? This is a sharp desert.
WILDCAT: So you probably wouldn't want to frolic naked then.
RUDACK: No. I don't frolic. I'm a smoker so ·
WILDCAT: So you would kill the meadow with your smoke.
RUDACK: Yeah, or set it on fire. Do you know how hard it is to se a cactus on fire? If you ever try to have a cactus bonfire it doesn't work.
WILDCAT: Good to know.
