Someone threw a garbage can off the third floor of a campus parking garage Wednesday, reports stated.
A UA Parking and Transportation Services employee called police after finding the can on the ground below the Main Gate Garage, 815 E. Second St., reports stated.
The employee found the can near the sidewalk. The lid was bent, and the bottom of the receptacle was dented. The employee also found several green chips of paint on the ground around the can, reports stated.
Responding officers found a scrape of green paint on a retaining wall on the third level of the garage where the can had been stationed. The can was not damaged when it was last seen April 3, reports stated.
The can is still useable, reports stated.
UAPD officers arrested a man after they found him sleeping outside a campus building Wednesday, reports stated.
Officers responded to the Steward Observatory, 933 N. Cherry Ave., where they saw the man was sleeping on the grass north of the building. He was lying in a sleeping bag, and he appeared to be intoxicated, reports stated.
A background check revealed there was a warrant out for the man's arrest, reports stated.
Officers took him to Pima County Jail.
A UA student called police Wednesday to report a man who had been following her around campus, reports stated.
The student told police she became frightened when she saw the man standing outside her room at the Skyview Apartments, 1050 E. Eighth St. She had seen him watching her room from the same area on previous occasions, reports stated.
The woman said she had taken a class with the man in the fall, but never spoke to him. She thought he might also live in her complex, reports stated.
The officer advised the woman not to walk on campus alone and to call police if she ever saw the man following her again.
Police also spoke to the hall director, who had also seen the man before. They advised her to call them if she saw him again, too, reports stated.
Police arrested a man who was asking for money outside Arizona/Sonora Residence Hall Wednesday, after they discovered he had multiple outstanding warrants, reports stated.
When an officer confronted the man and asked to see his identification, the man said he did not have any. He gave the officer his name, with which police were able to run a records check. The check showed there were four warrants out for the man's arrest, reports stated.
When the officer searched the man, he found a wallet in his back pocket with an Arizona identification card in it. The man was cited on charges of reporting false information to a police officer.
He was taken to Pima County Jail and warned not to solicit on campus again, reports stated.
A man threatened employees at the Student Union Memorial Center, 1303 E. University Blvd., after he was fired from his job in the food court, Wednesday, reports stated.
When the employees told the man he was being dismissed, he called them "demons" and "Satan worshippers." He also said they were "messing with his life" and "would answer to God," reports stated.
The man became increasingly upset and began rambling about being fired for his race and religion, reports stated.
The employees said, however, they were more threatened by his actions than his words. After leaving the office, he returned and told other employees that they "should be afraid of him." When the manager of the restaurant where he worked accidentally brushed up against him, the man called him "the enemy," reports stated.
The employees told police they only wanted to document the incident, not press charges.
Someone broke into a UA student's vehicle while it was parked in a campus lot Friday, reports stated.
The student reported the incident to police over the phone. She said she left her car in the lot at 1904 E. Helen St. in the morning. When she returned later in the day, she discovered her CD player and two CDs were missing, reports stated.
The student said there were no signs of forced entry on the vehicle, and she was sure she had locked the car when she left. The driver side door was unlocked when she returned to her vehicle, reports stated.
The woman also told police she did not know of either anyone who would want to steal from her, or who had a duplicate set of keys to her car, reports stated.
The victim did not get back with police with the serial numbers of the stolen items or her license plate. After repeated attempts to contact her, the case was closed, reports stated.
