Softball returns home to face Bay Area's best after sweeping top-ranked UCLA
When freshman pitcher Alicia Hollowell signed her letter of intent to attend No. 1 Arizona, she disappointed four of the Pac-10's top teams ÷ who were also four of the best in the nation.
With UCLA knocking on her door, Hollowell turned Westwood down, similar to the way she defeated the Bruins last weekend, with a 3-0 shutout on Saturday and a 5-1 win on Sunday.

Arizona returns to conference play at home with Huskies
From here on out, every series is crucial for the Arizona baseball team.
After last weekend's 2-1 series victory against Miami (Ohio) in the final non-conference series of the season, the Wildcats enter the home stretch of the Pacific 10 Conference schedule today when Washington visits Sancet Field.
"We are more concerned with winning in the Pacific 10 Conference," outfielder Jeff Van Houten said. "Non-conference games really don't matter. The only thing that matters is hitting in Pac-10 (games) and winning."

Barnes-less golf takes on Tempe field
The Arizona men's golf team, one of the hottest teams in the country, will head to Tempe for the Thunderbird Invitational today ÷ but without the key ingredient to its spring success.
The Wildcats have won four out of the five tournaments this spring, including the National Invitational Tournament they hosted last week.
With Ricky Barnes, the reigning U.S. Amateur champion, in Augusta competing in the Masters this week, UA will need outstanding performances from all five players to make the streak five of six.

Arizona to challenge in St. Louis for "Super Six" berth
It's dŽjˆ vu all over again for the gymnastics team as it travels to Missouri for the second time this year, prepared to face two Pac-10 teams and the Tigers of Mizzou again, this time for a berth in the NCAA Championships.
The No. 19 Gymcats (5-16, 2-10) will face a deep field in the 2003 South Central Regional Championships tomorrow night in St. Louis. Arizona faces No. 1 UCLA, No. 12 Oregon State, No. 13 Iowa, No. 26 Missouri and Illinois-Chicago.

Pac-10's best next for men's tennis
The Arizona men's tennis team will put its three-match win streak on the line this weekend against Pac-10 powerhouses Stanford and California.
Coming off of a season-saving upset of No. 9 Washington on Saturday, Arizona will hit the road for the final time this regular season to take on the No. 3 Golden Bears and No. 7 Cardinal. Victories over Oregon and UW this past weekend not only put UA at .500 for the year (8-8, 2-2), but also provide the No. 33 Wildcats with a confidence boost heading into the crucial weekend series.

Women's tennis to take on Pac-10 foes Stanford and Cal
Concluding their home schedule this weekend won't be a simple task for the UA women's tennis team when Pac-10 foes Stanford and California, two of the nations elite squads, travel to Tucson.
The Wildcats are riding high after spoiling the homecoming of Tucson native and Salpointe High School star Kendra Strohm, who currently plays for Texas. No. 39 Arizona (7-10, 1-9) blanked the Longhorns 7-0 on Tuesday.

Track and Field parts up north
The UA track and field team hits the road this weekend, but will remain in the state of Arizona when its field squad heads to Mesa today and the track team travels to Tempe and Sun Angel Stadium tomorrow.
Both the UA men's and women's squads take the field today at Riggs Stadium in Mesa to compete against impressive national competition from 27 schools in the Mesa Classic.
Included in that field on the men's side are No. 17 Florida and No. 25 Colorado State. Competition for the No. 23 ranked Arizona women includes No. 12 Brigham Young.

Football spring game set for tomorrow
For the second time in as many weeks, the Arizona football team will hold a scrimmage as part of its spring practices.
The Wildcats will play in their annual Red-Blue scrimmage tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Arizona Stadium. More than the 75 or so spectators who attended last weekend's scrimmage are expected at tomorrow's event.
The Wildcats usually play the Red-Blue scrimmage on their final practice of the spring, but because the schedule got pushed back, they will hold it midway through their 15 allotted practices.
