Top-ranked Arizona outscores visiting No. 12 Sun Devils 10-1 at home in two-game weekend sweep

Sun Devils learn from their mistakes.

On Friday, after intentionally walking senior Lovie Jung in the first inning, they pitched to her in the third, with two runners on. All three of them scored with Jung's homer to left field as Arizona ran it up 8-0 over ASU.

On Saturday, No. 12 Arizona State (28-15, 5-6 Pac-10) took no such chances, walking Jung at all three at-bats. Meanwhile, the Wildcats prevailed, 2-1. [Read article]

Baseball takes two of three in Pullman

The Arizona baseball team knew a three-game sweep of Washington State last week would likely move them up in the Pacific-10 Conference rankings.

Though they came short of that goal in the series' final game on Saturday, the Wildcats (28-14, 7-5 Pac-10) still moved into a second-place tie with rival Arizona State with their third consecutive series win.

Arizona trails the first-place Stanford Cardinal by two games in the race for the Pac-10 title going into next weekend's visit to Palo Alto, Calif., for a three-game set. [Read article]

Wildcats down ASU to all but assure postseason invite

More than bragging rights were on the line for the men's tennis team's Saturday match against Arizona State, in which the Wildcats crushed their in-state rivals, 5-2.

No. 33 Arizona (9-10, 3-4) closed its dual and Pac-10 seasons on Saturday with a win over No. 29 ASU, winning the doubles point to go along with four of six singles matches. [Read article]

Track and field shines at Mt. SAC

The UA track and field team proved this weekend it belongs among the best in the nation, with an impressive meet at the Mt. SAC relays.

Arizona poured on the intensity Saturday in the southern California meet, claiming four titles, a prestigious mark among competition from the nation's top programs.

"In my entire 16 years at Arizona, that was the best Mt. SAC relays since I have been here," Arizona head coach Fred Harvey said of the 45th annual meet held at Mt. San Antonio College. [Read article]
