Arc The Lad: Twighlight Of The Spirits
Playstation 2
Sony
Arc is a role-playing simulation on par with The Legend of Zelda. The characters also resemble Link and his posse. The main character even starts out in a makeshift village with grass huts like in Zelda.
The game apparently has two main characters, Kharg and Darc.
The premise is that the characters are searching for highly coveted stones that are a source of power in this medieval world. Sound familiar? The stones aid in the casting of spells and are a source of strength for every stoner that beholds them.
The graphics look really sleek and when the character has to run around the town or forest, there isn't that annoying slide/ skid/ stop motion. The character actually stops on a dime. The result is much less frustration for the player, because in some games it's almost like there is a constant sheet of black ice under the character's feet.
Unfortunately, the demo version that I tested did not contain any fight sequences, which seem to be a big part of the game. So basically I got to look, but not touch, any enemies, adventure, or fun.
For as much as I got to play, the game looks cool. So if role-playing games that resemble the plot, characters and scenery of "The Legend Of Zelda" are your bag, then "Arc" might be a good way to escape the smothering loads of summer school work.
Rating: There's nothing better than stoners looking for magic stones. Light up and enjoy.
