Theft

Three high school students were cited Tuesday after security cameras filmed them stealing CD players from a campus bookstore, reports stated.

The three students, all age 15, were being detained by the security guards at the UofA Bookstore, 1209 E. University Blvd., when police arrived.

The security guards told police they saw the students inside the store earlier in the week and that video footage showed one of the boys take a portable CD player and place it into another boy's backpack Thursday, reports stated.

One student allowed officers to search his bag. They found various papers, books and a CD player.

He told police that the CD player was not his.

Two of the boys told officers that the third student was responsible for stealing two CD players earlier in the week, along with the one in the backpack. The student who had the CD player gave a slightly conflicting story.

All the boys said they knew shoplifting was going on. The three were cited and released to their parents' custody on suspicion of shoplifting, reports stated.

The CD players were selling for $64.99 each.

Pushing a police officer

A Tucson woman was arrested Thursday near campus after she pushed a police officer, reports stated.

The woman and a man were walking their bikes in the crosswalk near East Speedway Boulevard and North Park Avenue. When the light changed, an officer, whose vehicle was already slightly protruding into the crosswalk, rolled further into the crosswalk, reports stated.

"Right of way, asshole," the man said to the officer, reports stated.

The officer followed the man and woman into 7-Eleven, 1001 E. Speedway Blvd. When the officer confronted the man he began to get loud and argumentative. The woman also began yelling at police after officers were talking to the man, reports stated.

One officer told the woman to shut her mouth and calm down as he used his forearm to push her away from the man. The woman pushed the officer, before she was brought to the ground, reports stated.

She was arrested and taken to Pima County Jail on suspicion of aggravated assault on a police officer.

While she was in the police car she began to cry and apologize to police.

The man was released at the scene.

Possession of marijuana

Two UA students were cited after they said they had smoked marijuana on top of a parking garage Thursday, reports stated.

The students, both 18 years old, were with two women on the top floor of the Tyndall Avenue Garage, 880 E. Fourth St., sitting on the ground.

The two men ran to the stairwell and left the garage when they saw police.

"I think they were smoking marijuana," one woman said when officers asked why the men ran away, reports stated.

The woman denied smoking marijuana and told police they barely knew the men.

The women did not have any symptoms of marijuana use and were released at the scene, reports stated.

Another officer caught up with one of the men at North Tyndall Avenue and East University Boulevard.

He told police that he ran because he didn't want to get caught smoking marijuana.

He admitted to using a pipe to smoke, but denied knowing the pipe's whereabouts or having any more marijuana, reports stated.

He told police that he didn't know where he got the marijuana and told police the other man's name.

He said the man lived somewhere in Arizona Sonora Residence Hall, 910 E. Fifth St.

The man was cited and released on suspicion of unlawful possession of marijuana, reports stated.

Police went to the residence hall and used the student's last name to find his room number.

The student's roommate told police that the student wasn't home. Officers told the roommate to have the student call police when he returned.

The student called police just after 1 a.m. the following morning. He met with officers and admitted to smoking marijuana atop the garage.

He was cited and released on suspicion of unlawful possession of marijuana, reports stated.
