North Texas at Arizona
After spending Sept. 11 building houses, I have a new, fond respect for construction workers. If you look closely at my helmet you can see it says Lory. Ahh she was nice. She also was a big 'Cats fan, so in memory of the precious time I spent with her, I will give UA the nod Saturday. That's the only reason.

One team is trying to build a tradition and the other is trying to keep its once-proud tradition intact. One team has built its team around a high-powered offense and the other around its defense. One team comes from the boonies and one team comes from the streets. I'll give this one to thugs from SoCal.

One of the greatest shows ever about construction had to be "Home Improvement." Ahh, the hilarious Taylor family and their zany antics put a smile on my face every Tuesday night. WSU has a Taylor of their own who played on the same high school football team as Jonathan Taylor Thomas. JTT was a WR at Chaminade in West Hills, Calif.

Building in the heat sucks, so just imagine how it would feel to play football in 100-degree temperatures. That's what ASU and Stanford will deal with because it's supposed to be a high of 101 Saturday in Tempe for the 12:30 p.m. kickoff. I say both teams just call it a forfeit and go out to the Mill and bond.

One last stop before Oregon and the Pac-10 schedule. This needs to be an all out pound-them-into-the-ground win. The Wildcats need a bit of a swagger and confidence heading into conference play. Not overconfidence, but just something to look back on and say, "We played as well as we can play and blew them out. Let's play better next week."

Maybe the entire Oregon State team treated last season like a redshirt year. No one should be surprised that Dennis Erickson has this team in the Top 25. On the other side of the ball, USC held its own in a tough Big 12 environment against Kansas State. The Trojans win this game because they are at home.

Cal's dream season lasted three weeks. The Michigan State win was very impressive, but they are out of "get out of jail free" cards. After a blowout loss to a Cougar team led by a freshman QB, the Bears will fall back to their spot as the confidence booster for the rest of the Pac-10. It was fun while it lasted, wasn't it?

After getting worked at Nebraska to start the season, the Sun Devils have won three straight. Their quarterback has seven TDs and no interceptions · but he is no Jake the Snake, and other than the Huskers, the Sun Devils have played exactly no one. Stanford ties for the lead in the Pacö10, they better savor the flavor because they aren't staying there long.

The Wildcats showed their true colors with the whooping they took at the hands of the Badgers. The Wildcats' defense can't tackle or cover receivers, but it will not matter this weekend as Arizona is fortunate enough to play North Texas, a team that UA should beat by at least three touchdowns. The game will be over by halftime and Dirtbags will be jumping early on Saturday.

A week ago I thought the Trojans were for real, but that all changed when they got hammered by K-state. Both of these teams have something to prove and the only advantage USC has is their sarcastic, annoying band. The only way I see OSU beating the Trojans is if its bench warmers sneak up into the crowd and take out USC's band.

The Cougars enter the Pac-10 season as the preseason favorite to win the conference and they can't afford a loss at the hands of the Golden Bears. Cal enters its conference schedule looking not too embarrass itself like they did last season. Luckily for Cal, they may have a chance as WSU's star quarterback Jason Gesser is out. But then again, it is Cal.

With Ty Willingham gone, Stanford has lost the luster they had last year and they definitely are not on the same playing field as the team that finished in the top 15. I don't know who is going to win, but there is no way I can pick the Sun Devils. It is a contest of brainiacs and idiots and, well, I am going to have to go with the brainiacs.

You might think this is going to be an easy win for the Wildcats, and you're right. It's true that UNT played it tough against Texas and Texas Christian, but the Mean Green were nothing more than a lame reference to their legendary alumnus against Alabama. Wildcats roll because they're not in Texas, making them far superior to anything in Texas.

What's the deal with the Beavers? Last season they were more frigid than Britney Spears at a hacker's convention. Now they're scoring like it's prom night. The thugs are in full effect for D. Erickson, meaning they'll go to any lengths to injure a member of the opposing team. The Trojans, however, have 15 freakin' running backs on their depth chart, so no worries.

Washington State loses to Ohio State. Cal beats Michigan State. Cal beats Michigan State by more than OSU beats WSU, so hypothetically Cal would beat Ohio State if they played. Cal loses to Air Force. That means Air Force would be the best team in the Big Ten, since both MSU and OSU were favorites to win the conference. Go Falcons!

Honestly, does anyone give a flying crap about this game? I know I don't. Instead of watching this game, you could be doing homework. Guaranteed to be more fun, no doubt. That would be mad fresh.
