Getting football tickets used to be a hassle. You had to stand in line in the sun and had to walk all the way down to the McKale Center box office. But now the UA marketing and corporate sales department has made it easier and more fun to get tickets. Today from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. a booth will be setup on the UA Mall selling and delivering season tickets.
"We just want to make it easier for the students," UA marketing specialist Matt Harrington said. "We have never had students pick up tickets outside of McKale."
Students can also get free lunch because they will be serving Domino's Pizza and Pepsi at the tent.
Also at the tent today radio station KHOT will be broadcasting live and giving away prizes. Approximately 60 sets of student tickets were sold on the Mall yesterday and 60 tickets were picked up, according to Harrington. The cheerleading and rugby teams were used yesterday to attract people to the tent on the East and usually less crowded side of the mall. They were giving away football beads to all people passing by.
Approximately 2,000 season tickets have been sold but many more are expected be sold in the next couple of days leading up to the season opener Saturday against NAU, according to Harrington.
"Our goal is 6,000 by opening day," Harrington said. "We know that's a lofty goal but with everyone on campus now we think it can be done."
