Vandalism

Police do not know who drew a penis with testicles and wrote "prepare to die" on a stairwell last weekend, reports stated.

An employee found the graffiti Monday morning near the Olive Tunnel by McClelland Hall, 1130 E. Helen St.

The employee told officers that he was concerned with the message and wanted the graffiti to be seen by police before it was removed.

There are no suspects and no witnesses at this time.

Vandalism

A copper sign was vandalized outside the Writing Skills Improvement Program office over the weekend, reports stated.

A groundskeeper saw that the sign had been ripped out of its cement base and placed on the ground near the south yard of the office, 1201 E. Helen St., reports stated.

The sign was not damaged.

Police believe that the sign was repeatedly kicked until it came out of the ground. Officers found shoe prints in the dirt near the sign, reports stated.

Employees with the writing program told officers that they have had problems with their neighbors, individuals who live in a private house nearby. They said that they have filed reports about their disputes.

Police were unable to find any reported disputes, reports stated.

Employees said that the sign would be remounted in the ground.

Harassing phone calls

A residence hall front-desk employee received ten harassing phone calls Monday afternoon, reports stated.

He was working at the front desk at the Coconino Residence Hall, 1003 N. Olive Road, when he received the first call.

Nobody was speaking on the other line, but the desk employee believes he heard a noise similar to the hum of a running washing machine, reports stated.

The rest of the calls were of a similar nature, reports stated.

There are no suspects and no witnesses at this time. Police told the employee to call UAPD if the calls persist.

Car break-in

A student's car was broken into Tuesday while parked in a campus garage, reports stated.

The student told police that he parked his car at 5:50 p.m. at the top level of the Cherry Avenue Garage, 1641 E. Enke Dr. When he returned at 8:30 p.m., he noticed that the lock on the driver-side door had been punched through and the door was not fully closed, reports stated.

The student noticed the face of his stereo would not fit on the CD player, evidently because it had been tampered with.

The student told police that he didn't notice anybody suspicious when he parked the car and that the vehicle had no alarm system, reports stated.

There are no suspects and no witnesses.

Fictitious parking permit

A student was placed into the diversion program after he told a Parking and Transportation Services employee that he displayed a fictitious Zone 1 parking permit, reports stated.

An employee told officers that the students had come to the Parking and Transportation building, 888 N. Euclid Ave., after he realized that his car had been booted for displaying a fake permit on Sept. 3, reports stated.

The student told the employee that he bought the permit from a private individual, but then said that it was made at Kinko's, reports stated.

The Parking and Transportation department sent a letter about the incident to the Dean of Students Diversion Program, reports stated.

The employee also said that another student had been caught displaying a fictitious permit on Sept. 13, reports stated.
